Flagship Development
Margam Data Centre
Margam is Biogenica’s flagship nature-positive data centre development – a world first, located at Port Talbot, Wales. Having secured planning consent in May 2026, the project is expected to become operational in 2028.
Key Outcomes
Designed from inception around renewable energy, circular biomass supply chains and measurable ecological outcomes, Margam demonstrates Biogenica’s integrated model for delivering energy security, digital infrastructure and nature regeneration through a single project.

Margam in Numbers
14 MW
Renewable Baseload Power
Enough to power 40,000 homes, via a private power agreement with an existing biomass asset.
35.2K+
Hectares of Welsh forestry, agriculture and urban land secured
Delivering nature-positive landscape restoration across 35,200+ hectares, with selective harvesting (non-clear fell) across 2,640 hectares per year.
10k
Tonnes of Carbon to be Sequestered
This equals ~2,200 vehicles off the road each year, through circular local supply chains, improved forestry and land management, and sourcing forestry residues within a 60-mile radius. Planned carbon capture would add a further 80,000 tons per annum (~18,000 vehicles off the road).
1.5k
Hectares of Water Catchments
Margam will restore 1,500 hectares of river catchments (equivalent to ~4% of national Welsh river borders) through biodiverse planting schemes. This includes high-yielding species, species with premium offtake potential and species that enhance biodiversity.
Faster Than the Grid
The project combines dedicated renewable baseload power, carbon capture infrastructure and landscape-scale habitat restoration, creating a blueprint for next-generation infrastructure that generates positive outcomes for both operators and the natural environment.

Continuous Cover Forestry
Biogenica has proprietary data and know-how that strengthens the economic case for forest owners to move to continuous cover forestry, having deployed it successfully in South Wales. Higher harvesting costs are offset by the higher prices of larger-diameter trees felled selectively, and a wider hardwood mix.

Market-leading Track Record
Biogenica will work with WBE’s team, among the UK’s most prolific woodland and forestry consultants. They will deliver 100 hectares of forest creation in 2026, then expand to farmer clusters and measure below-ground biodiversity, ground cover, and vertebrate and invertebrate reintroductions.

Operational by 2028
Significantly faster than typical time-lines for new grid-connected data centre capacity in the UK. Biogenica is actively building a pipeline of additional projects in the UK and beyond.
